One of the positive aspects of Erasmus+ projects is the opportunity to meet the partners you are working with. This is why the kick-off meeting is so important, as it is the first real opportunity for project participants to interact with each other after many long-distance calls and e-mails. As planned by the project, the WIR kick-off meeting was held at the headquarters of the project leader, Valsugana Rugby located in the city of Padua. The meeting, which took place on 28 February 2023, was attended by two contact persons from Valsugana Rugby, including the President, two from FIR, including the Women's Activity Coordinator, one contact person for FFR and one for the Aurora Baicoi Sports Club. After a lunch of typical Italian cuisine, and of Padua in particular, organised by the Valsu President in a restaurant close to the Club, the group headed to the Valsugana Club House where the meeting was held. First, however, a guided tour of the Club by the President, who described how the club has grown in recent years, was a must. After a walk around the field, the meeting is ready to start with the first speech by the Ecos agency, the project's consultant, who presents WIR's activities and objectives. This is succeeded, as per the following agenda, by presentations of their realities and the perception of women's rugby in their countries by Valsugana, FIR, FFR, and Club Sportivo Aurora Baicoi.
After a short break to enjoy the Club House cafeteria and discuss the different situations in their territories, the meeting continued with an update on the partners' ongoing activities, the communication part of the project and the administrative and financial aspects.
